FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI)

There are still seats available for floodplain management courses at EMI that have been pre-approved for Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for CFMs. EMI courses are offered at the beautiful Emmitsburg, MD campus. If you are a state or local government employee you may attend the training for FREE with all expenses covered except meals (meal tickets approx. $100/week).

FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI)offers a diverse selection of more than 400 floodplain and emergency management courses available to Local, State, Tribal floodplain and emergency managers, Federal partners, volunteer organizations and first responders from across the country.

To Apply
Apply early to reserve your seat - courses fill quickly! To reduce the risk of identity theft, FEMA and the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) are eliminating the use of the Social Security Number (SSN), where possible when applying for training. FEMA has implemented the use of a Student Identification (SID) number. You will be required to obtain and use the SID in applying for NFA or EMI courses. This number will be used in place of the SSN on your application. Read more about this new application process.

You can find the EMI Course Description, Schedule and application materials on the EMI website: EMI Course Catalog
